Located in the heart of Ellendale, Prince of Peace Care Center offers skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation, memory care, and geriatric psychiatric care, while Evergreen Place offers basic care and assisted living.

Established in 1961, the Ellendale Nursing Center became the first long-term skilled care facility in the community. The facility was purchased by the Benedictine Health System, Duluth, Minn., in 1989, and became known as Prince of Peace Care Center. In 1998, a Dementia Care Unit was created to provide quality care for residents suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other related forms of dementia.

In 1994, in an effort to enhance the quality of health care services in the community of Ellendale, BHS and the Dickey County Memorial Hospital Association jointly opened Evergreen Place, a basic care community. The two facilities share staff and resources to make both operate efficiently and strengthen the viability of both organizations and enhance the continuum of care.
