First incorporated in 2007, and opened to residents in 2010, Mirabella Portland was the second Mirabella-brand Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) developed by Pacific Retirement Services. It was designed as a senior-living community where people could make the next chapters of their lives the best chapters of their lives—where age is just a number, and not something that defines who one is or how one feels.

The name Mirabella was chosen because it can be loosely translated from Italian as “beautiful vision,” which reflects PRS’s goal of helping residents create a vision of their future that is bright, vibrant and exciting.

In 2008, before it even opened, Mirabella Portland received the highest design honor, a Merit Award, from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Design for Aging Review program.

Additionally, it has achieved the highest possible rating, a Platinum certification, through the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, which is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance buildings. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

Pacific Retirement Services, Inc., is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Medford, Oregon, that was formally incorporated in 1991. Today PRS develops, operates, manages, and markets a family of more than 50 retirement communities and service organizations in six states across the United States. The corporation has nearly 3,000 employees and provides housing and services to more than 5,200 seniors through its many affiliated organizations.
