At Maine Veterans’ Home, we believe it is a privilege and our responsibility to provide care and support for those who honorably served our country and their families.

We are a not-for-profit organization created by the 108th Maine legislature in July 1977. Our first home opened in March 1983 in Augusta. Since then, MVH facilities have been established in Caribou, Scarborough, South Paris, Bangor, and Machias.

Whether long-term care or rehabilitative services, our team of healthcare professionals work together to develop a customized care plan based on your needs. Our success can be directly attributed to our staff’s unwavering commitment to our Mission and Core Values in taking care of Maine’s veterans.

As a long-term care facility serving veterans,

We work closely with state and federal agencies, veterans’ service organizations, the Department of Veterans Administration, and local community organizations.
We can bill through Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance.
A daily VA stipend is available to qualifying veterans.
Per VA regulations, 75% of our beds are reserved for veterans at any time.
We serve as a Veterans Advocate and a bridge to various organizations to promote and improve veterans’ long-term healthcare benefits and programs
